Hi I am a amatuer web designer and I was wondering if you surf the web , you visit sites and like their design and set up are you allow to built a site of your own copying the other web sites design.
I don’t mean copying exactly pixel for pixel / code for code but very close different colors and minor changes to design.. is thisl legal or does it break some standard of web designs?
lol that’s an untouched question
i try to create my own but use other sites as a template
i believe it’s illegal… but if you take out all the backbone such as javascript java php, css and all that and remake it with you rown
i believe it’s fine
good luck

Taking someone elses design is never a good idea and yes, it is illegal. If a website is owned by a company, it is theirs. If a webdesigner designs a website for someone else and it isn’t copyrighted, then it belongs to the designer. But if the company copyrights it, it belongs to the company.
My suggestion is to start from scratch like I did. Learn basic html so you know it. Create little pages and make them harder and harder. Then move up to PhotoShop and to Dreamweaver or whatever your preference is. Starting in the middle is confusing and you’ll pull your hair out. There are a tun of tutorials out there to help you learn.
But……….a BIG but……….if you insist on copying the source off of someones site, first, none of their images are in your images file on your computer, unless you save each individual one and sometimes that don’t even work. But, you can at least view the html code and learn how a page is brought together. From a seasoned webdesigner to a newbee, learn from the beginning! You’ll be glad that you did and you’ll be proud of yourself. Editing someone elses work can be confusing and you’ll be frustrated guaranteed.
No easy way outs, just do it! Good luck, you’ll love it once you understand it better.
