Health insurance alone will end up costing a lot more than if you were on a company policy (at my last job I paid $65 a month for full medical & dental a comparable plan would cost me $2000/month). Not only that but most tech companies will provide 401K with matching funds (which is free money) as well as educational benefits/paid training and conferences as well as even match funds for any charitable organization donations you make. With the economy, most people are just trying to do it themselves or get friends who will do it for free. I do it because my mom is a photographer and all her friends are in that business so they always say "Hey, can you make me a website? I'll pay you for it." That's the easy part. But you can't always depend on that kind of people to help your career out because it surely won't pay the bills. You could work for a company and get a lot of money from it and do extra work on the side that your company doesn't even have to worry about.<br><b>References : </b><br> Honestly, It’s not unless you have good connections.
