How can Windows Media Player be uninstalled from a computer?

Posted by admin on November 4th, 2009 and filed under media | 3 Comments »

My sister was already having a hard time playing a DVD on her computer through Windows Media Player-the default player. The reason why this happened because the message popped up saying there’s no DVD decoder in there. She wanted it uninstalled. And if possible, how can that be reinstalled? How can this be done? My sister wanted answers to this as soon as possible.

Hi dude,

To uninstall WMP go to control panel and open "Add or Remove Programs" window, from the left pane in this window select "Add/Remove Windows Components", in next window ("Windows Components Wizard) uncheck "Windows Media Player" from Component’s list and press Next button, To re-installing you can recheck this check box from the same location as above, but remember that Windows original CD will be needed to re-install WMP after clicking Next button.

good luck…

Microsoft has a download center on their website.the software needed to play DVDs is called "ROXO" and its it’s priced pretty cheep.I suggest getting the correct software befor uninstalling the media player.Uninstalling and reinstalling won’t change the fact that your system does not have the the software to run the program. If you have other media players on your system that can play DVDs, just change the default player. To do this, click ’start’, ’set programs access and defaults’ ‘custom’ ‘choose media player’ then click another player other than windows. If you still want to uninstall, in the same window click ‘change or remove programs’ look down the list for ‘windows media player’ click on to it , then click remove. I hope this helps, good luck
