How does the media cause girls to start an eating disorder?

Posted by admin on February 20th, 2010 and filed under media | 6 Comments »

I believe that the media is one of the major causes of eating disorders in girls. Modeling industries only want thin women so girls start to believe that they have to be thin to be pretty.

All they ever show in any kind of ads (or at least most of them) is really skinny girls. Most women do not and cannot look like them, but young girls are going to try to be "perfect" like them.

The other day, my 7 year old (who doesn’t have an ounce of fat on her) didn’t want to wear a sweater that I had taken out for her because she said it "makes her look fat". That’s just very sad.

Is the Zune media player going to work well with windows vista?

Posted by admin on February 18th, 2010 and filed under media | 3 Comments »

This is my first media player or anything at that, not even ipod shuffle. I don’t get it until Christmas so will I like it and will I be able to operate easy through vista? Thanks!

I have it, and I have vista.

Works perfectly fine.

I’d also like to add, I think this happens on any computer not just vista, but if you plug your Sync cable into a port that’s not working correctly your computer will be screwed up. (Random crashes, random shutdowns, freezes) So if that happens, change the USB Port it’s plugged into.

Just a heads up if it happens, I know several people it has happened to.

Why does the media love to start trouble with celebrities in the tabloids?

Posted by admin on February 16th, 2010 and filed under media | 5 Comments »

When celebrities are going through troubling times such as Britney Spears last year, why does the media love to make the situation worse? I also saw a tabloid a few weeks ago that said on the front cover: "LINDSAY LOHAN, FRIENDS FEAR SHE’S SUICIDAL". Why do they want to humiliate them like that?

To put money in their pockets, headlines like that create interest in the paper magazine, people buy it to see what’s going on and it’s money to them, even if they are exaggerating. The only thing you can believe in a tabloid is the date.

What role does the media play in criminal trials?

Posted by admin on February 14th, 2010 and filed under media | 1 Comment »

I was just wondering, what happens when the media has constant coverage of a murder trial that will happen in the near future.

Does that do anything?
I was just wondering, because Conrad Murray is about to be sent to court for manslaughter of Michael Jackson, and the media is always talking about it.

I thought that when the media gets involved, the case in unfair because the jury/judge has prior knowledge? I know nothing about the law.

Conrad Murray would have no problem exonerating himself. He simply was with MJ when the pop star died, and he gave MJ prescriptions, but to prove he was the reason for MJ’s death, meaning killing him, is simply creating a media circus very much like the OJ trial, and LA doesn’t need that at the moment.

How to download a media player to watch downloaded episodes?

Posted by admin on January 15th, 2010 and filed under media | 4 Comments »

I recently downloaded some episodes from Eyeshield 21 since they didn’t work online. The first one worked and I watched it using Windows Media Player. The next two didn’t seem to be accepted by the program. Then I decided to try to download another media player to see if it could play my video. I ended up with the Adobe Media Player, which didn’t seem to work either. What can I do to watch my episodes? Is it the episodes themselves causing the problem or the program? If the program, give me some good media players, the sites to download, or an explanation?

Well, telling us what the file type is would be very helpful (like is the episode an .avi, .mkv, .ogm, etc.)

Without knowing the file type the best advice I can give you is to download CCCP and install it along with your Windows Media Player, this will enable it to play a lot more file types.

Or if it still doesn’t work after that, just download VLC media player, it plays basically every file type there is.

And if it happens to be an .rmvb file then you’ll either need RealPlayer or install Real Alternative so that rmvb files can play with Windows Media Player.

What media contrived hoax do you think will be revealed next?

Posted by admin on January 2nd, 2010 and filed under media | 9 Comments »

So we know that global warming is a hoax and the swine flu scare is a hoax and both were agendas that were pushed by the controlled media. What media-contrived hoax do you think will be next on the chopping block?

I think they’ll have to acknowledge the glaring discrepancies regarding 9/11. Before you ‘thumb me down’ re-read what I said. Note I didn’t say Bush did it, nor did I say the Joos did it. There are obvious contradictions and shortcomings in the Official 911 Commission report, many who wrote it have admitted it! I’d like to know who did it, I’d like to see them punished, and I’d like our federal policies to reflect reality rather than the flawed official conspiracy theory.

What is the difference between a hd media player and a hdmi media player ?

Posted by admin on December 22nd, 2009 and filed under media | 1 Comment »

I’m looking to buy a media player and have seen a cyclone 500gb hd media player with record function and another which is also 500gb but says hdmi media player with tv record funtion, I know HD is the technology and hdmi is the cable used , its just whats on the side of the box which is throwing me ?

As you say…

HDMI is just the cable..
so it could be SD or less being recorded and played back…
It just happens to use an HDMI cable (rather than s-video or scart) to connect.
Like freeview and DVD players than have HDMI outputs.

The HD machine is the only claiming to be HD… though that does not mean much more.
As HD covers a multitude of sins… as TV thats are only HD Ready and not FULL HD has shown !

You can only tell from the specs for the player/recorders.
do they do 1080p or only 1080i etc

Who thinks the media played a big role in the recession we are experiencing?

Posted by admin on December 14th, 2009 and filed under media | 6 Comments »

A major reason behind it seems to be due to consumer confidence being low. Did the media cause some (or most) of that? Id like to hear peoples opinions on this, not just what the news is telling me.

Consumer expectations shape the economic reality, and I think that the media’s portrayal of our economy being in free-fall has certainly increased the sense of uncertainty for consumers, and has probably made the recession deeper than it would otherwise have been. Prior to mass communications, the economy was much less interdependent than it is now, and it’s state depended much more on local conditions than the international factors.
Now, layoffs on one coast are immediately known on the other one, and the increased uncertanty has made consumers less willing to spend. While I think that the media did not cause the recession, their relentless reporting of poor economic conditions has reinforced the sense of pessimism these economic events create, and the increased uncertainty about the future has contributed to the economic malaise that we are currently in.
