If I wanted to start my own website, how advanced or how simple can web site design be? Nothing fancy, just?

a blog type of thing, but I want it to look nice. How complicated is this? Would I need to hire a professional, or can I do it myself?

Thank in advance to all who answer my question!

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.

If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.

As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.

They are a Multi-awarded Web Hosting which offer a Full-featured service only $6.95. You can see their Plan Details accompanied with reliable reviews regarding their service at:

Web page design jobs?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under web page design | 1 Comment »

I am going to a tech college for webpage design and I know its kind of late to be asking this but how good of a field is web page design. Can you make a lot of money if you have your own web design business? Is there a large demand for jobs in web page design? If there isn’t that, than can I get other computer jobs with my degree?

You would do better in consulting or contracting work then working for a company as a full-time employee. The work will probably be more interesting.

Make sure you have a good portfolio so that you can show off your talent.

Can you give me approximate price range for web designer updating website?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under web designer | 1 Comment »

We need a web designer who can add video log and event calendar. Also who can make it simple.

Depending on skill and experience (and, to some extent, location), $35/hour-$150/hour. (The more skilled the developer, and the more experiences/he has, the faster the job will get done.)

Internet Marketing for new site?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under internet marketing services | 10 Comments »

I have set up a new website (talk-it-over.co.uk) which is basically an online and telephone consultancy offering confidential and impartial advice to people’s personal and business problems. I am looking at ways to market this on the Internet. I’m going down all the usual channels i.e. social media, blogging, submitting articles with a signature, forums etc. but really I need to try and pinpoint the people who would specifically need my service – those more in the 25+ range,I think – and who would be willing to pay for such a service (although my fees are very affordable). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

I guess you already know what are the best ways to market your website online, however I suggest you to consider SEO (for long term) & Google Adwords (for instant lead).

If we talk in terms of Online Marketing, it’s an long process and you need to plan for each activity phase by phase to target your audience.

If you want to learn or know more about SEO or SEM (Online Marketing Strategies) visit http://www.afzalkhan.org

You can also plan or do all such things by your own but it is always suggested to outsource such skills and you better concentrate on making your business succesfull.

Good Luck!

Is it true the producers of Eastenders won’t let Heather go on a diet in real life?

Because she won’t be "Fat Hev" anymore….?

I think it’s sick she has it written into her contract that she has to gorge on chocolate and fast food to keep her fuller curvy figure.

That’s acting for you. Denzel Washington had to gain 40 pounds for Taking of Pelham 123.

New digital TV delivery, can I use existing cable connections?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under digital delivery | 1 Comment »

We’re having a new TV delivered this weekend, it’s digital and a flat screen, to replace our 9 year old Sony CRT TV. My question is simple – can we just replace the cables at the back in exactly the same formation as they are in the Sony? I.e. the ones in the current AV1 and AV2 sockets go into the same sockets in the back of the new TV, likewise the analogue aerial into the appropriate socket? This may sound basic but I wonder if, as it’s a digital TV, it needs something more complicated?! (Note we also have Sky satellite and a DVD recorder.) Grateful for advice. (We had to have a TV engineer in when we got a new DVD recorder earlier this year! I’m hoping a new TV won’t cause so many complexities.)

To get the best picture quality for your new tv you should use HDMI cable or component cables. All tv signals are now in digital. From your satellite box you should use HDMI cable to the tv. If you are not a handy person, Best Buy can make the connections for you. They will probably be the less expensive than the rest of the installers around. Hope this will help you out.

What effect do you think the media has on the Presidential election?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under media | 15 Comments »

The media is clearly backing Obama. They look at all of his positives and ignore the negatives. Whereas, they ignore the positives and broadcast the negatives of both McCain and Palin. They really don’t say too much about Biden. Do you think the media has an influence over how people will vote? Also, do you think that if a celebrity backs one over the other that it will sway votes?

The German backed and supported Hitler all the way! They helped him into office, and they kept people stupid to the horrors he and his cronies were committing.

But we’re too smart to let THAT ever happen again…right?

This one is for small business owners. Not web design firms please. How much would you pay for a web site?

Posted by admin on October 28th, 2009 and filed under web site design | 4 Comments »

How much would you be willing to pay for a website that is more than just basic. I know you can set up a free website or design your own and host it for about 10 bucks a month. But are there small business owners who would like to have a professional website (that can handle a shopping cart and credit cards, provide search functionality, let users register on the site, etc.) but are put off since it is more complicated than what they can do on Front Page and more expensive than what they can afford to have a web design company do?

Hard to say, because I would love to know this as well.

I could not afford $1,200 for just the design, but there are aspects that I would like.

I would like it if a company could augment what I already have and charge per item. To explain a little better, I can do the backgrounds, the titles, the links, the content, I can even provide pictures, but I would want someone who could help do more with the pictures than just rollovers.
For this, I might pay $50 to $75 – There is no design work and it is a one time fee, unless I change the pictures.

For a complete package like you are talking about – with shopping cart, I guess, a 20+ page site around $50 a page.

I personally, still could not afford it with how small my business is. It would take me moving to the next level with an actual location and a small business loan to think about it.

What you talk about is great and I am interested – visit www.inspiredtouches.com, but like I said – my payout would be limited right now.

Web page design, where to start?

Posted by admin on October 28th, 2009 and filed under web page design | 4 Comments »

I have no idea how to go about making my own website, but want to learn how. The site I have in mind would be for selling items. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

There are several ways to start creating your own website.

1) You should first have a registered domain for your website. If you dont have one, you can register it from your web hosting company or domain registrar.

2) Purchase a web space that will host your website contents from a web hosting company. There are several web hosting companies that offer domain registration and web hosting solutions as per your preferred location and budget.

3) See if your web hosting company offers any easy to use tools that will help you creating your website with the help of pre-defined templates. There are several websites such as http://www.webhost.uk.net, http://www.infrenion.com, http://www.rshosting.com etc that offer a tool called "Site Builder" that will help you design your web pages with the help of their predefined templates and wizards.

4) If you wish to create your custom design, you can create .html or .php or .asp pages with the help of good web site editing application such as Adobe Dreamweaver. Once you are done with creating your web pages, you will need to upload them to your web space.
Note: Using web site editing application such as Adobe Dreamweaver will need you to have basic knowledge of html coding.

Since you mentioned you wish to create a website that will be selling items, you can use ready to use CMS and Shopping cart systems that are available in market such as Joomla – http://www.joomla.org, Oscommerce – http://www.oscommerce.com
There are several other paid applications such as Magento – http://www.magentocommerce.com that will help you building and configuring your store.

Above mentioned applications are supported by almost all web hosting companies that support php and mysql database platform. Using above applications will help you to get your store ready in just a few minutes without you needing to do any kind of extensive coding.

Hope the above information helps you..
